It combines a corrective phase (in-clinic mask application) and a regulating home care phase. Cosmelan treats several types of pigmentation problems: melasma, sun-induced dark spots, freckles, senile lentigo, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (for example from acne). It is effective on all skin phototypes.

Improvements are often visible within 2-3 weeks after the in-clinic phase (mask), especially in skin tone and fading of spots. However, the full Cosmelan protocol is typically around 6 months long to get lasting results. Continuing the home care and sun protection is vital.

Yes, some expected side effects include redness, mild swelling, tightness, peeling or flaking of skin, and sensitivity. These effects usually occur in the first few days after the mask is removed. Downtime is moderate: you may need to avoid sun, heat, strong sweating, and certain skin treatments during the initial phase. The skin may be sensitive and require gentle care.
